So whenever I try and boot a FC13 live image from usb on my Lenovo X201 (http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Category:X201), I get the error "alg: hash: Failed to load transform for ghash-clmulni: -2" then a black screen. The HD has Ubuntu 10.04 installed.

I googled a bit, and all I found is this bug report: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=586954

Which simply states that this bug will be fixed post FC13.

Is there any way to get around this error and boot the live image?

The reporter in the bug report you provided says that there are no consequences from the error, but you are prevented from booting. So, it may not be the same problem. You could add your problem description to the bug mentioned and see if can get more information or maybe a workaround from the developers.

I have the same problem - I tried installing FC13 onto my machine which is dual boot XP and Ubuntu 10.04 - When I reboot to finish the installation from the 64bit live disk the machine just hangs on reboot. I have tried placing grub in all possible places with no luck so I have reverted to Ubuntu which is a great pity I have always been a Red Hat fan, I started out with Red Hat 5.

Question that might help:

When the install from the live disk is finished I get a message suggesting that a reboot will propel me into the world of FC13. Oddly, when I do the reboot which only seems possible by logging out from the live desktop then clicking the restart the machine button I have to somehow get the live disk out of the dvd drive manually or else the machine just boots from the live disk again.

I am using an Intel motherboard with a core 2 duo processor chip
