Fedora 13 in liveUsb crash win 7

Hi

I wanted to try fedora without installing it, and then I tried to install my wlan with this driver:
http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/b43

But my system (win 7) got corrupted, now i cant use it.

Is this expected? Do you guys have any suggestion on How i can get my system back?

What exactly do you mean? Where did you install the driver? Within the liveUSB? I would say it is rather unlikely that a Windows system gets corrupted by using a liveCD/USB.

Agreed, unless you executed some commands as root in the terminal or you installed Fedora to the hard disk, it's practically impossible that Windows was corrupted. What happens when you try to boot your installation of Windows 7?

My windows 7 also crashed with a fedora 13 in liveusb - I had to go through a repair to get win7 back. Used Fedora LiveUSB Creator with Fedora-13-i686-Live-Design, 305mb persistent partition.

Please look into this, this is not a noob error, I have not issued any commands, all I did was boot from the live usb and it screwed up windows.

hi CSchwangler and Firewing1

Thanks for your reply. I just installed the driver and the system couldnt boot up. After win7 repair tool did its job I could use win7 again, but anyway, i would think this shouldn happen.

I know its unlikely to get corrupted a system by using LiveUSB creator + F13, but i just follow the steps on the page:

lspci -vnn | grep 14e4

su -

yum install b43-fwcutter wget

wget http://downloads.openwrt.org/sources/broadcom-wl-4.150.10.5.tar.bz2

tar xjf broadcom-wl-4.150.10.5.tar.bz2

cd broadcom-wl-4.150.10.5/driver

b43-fwcutter -w /lib/firmware/ wl_apsta_mimo.o

Thx

--------------------A solution for Similar prob----------------

The problem i had was- fedora13 live usb created in win7 wont boot with or without data persistence. I found command line tweaks but not easy to follow. AND found that win7 dose not work with fedora live usb creator.

EASY SOLUTION (I accidentally invented this & worked 100% for me!)

1. go to the program folder where live usb creator is actually installed.

2. right click on the application and go to properties. Select compatibility tab, make it compatible foe windows xp sp3. click OK.

3. Run the program with admin privilege. Worked perfectly smooth with all options !!
