This post is mearly to share my pain with you all, because there is nothing anyone can do to help.

The regular install DvD simply does not work with basic dvd drives.

Live DvD boots up grate, only to install a half complete system that cant even get on the internet and is unusable.

That is right, the drivers for basic DVD drives were left out of the install DvD.

Woooooooooo!!!!!!

My oh my, I must have a really special bargain-basement DVD-RW since my F12 installed flawlessly. Betcha a few hundred thousand other users also have some really special DVD-RW's too!

What is the topic here?
Basic DVD drive = DVD-ROM?
DVD-ROM vs DVD-writer?

Might have been burned badly or is a REALLY crappy DVD-ROM drive.

no problem with an old basic DVD drive (read only, no write) in my old dell c600 laptop. flawless F12 install from the install dvd.

Guess I have one of those special dvd drives like bob has up there. lol
