Hi,

I created a Live USB (16GB) with Persistence (6 GB), and successfully booted from it for Fedora 12.

I want to use it as full fledged OS. So that I do not have to Install the same on HDD, and I can boot it any time using my USB flash drive instead installing GRUB in the Internal HDD. Initially I tried to configue my Wifi using thee Fedora wireless user manual, but found that the Network Manager was not present in Administrator.

I understand 654 MB Live Image vs 2.98 GB DVD decompressing for installation makes the difference. I want to use the 2.98 GB installation on Live USB. Please Advice.

My Goal is to Use the full OS, as on my sun XVM, on my Live USB. Please advice.

There is an icon that looks like two computers on the right near the clock. Right click on that and choose edit connections. That should bring up the Network Manager configuration screen. Left clicking the icon will bring up a list of Wifi stations to connect to also.

OT, but I'm curious. With 16GB, why not just do a full install on your USB stick?

Thanks JEO, tried your solution and worked.

Rockdoctor. I am searching for same, to do full install on my USB drive, but keep it live. Please advice. I could not find a feasible solution for myself.

I couldn't do this with Fedora because it requires a minimum of 4GB, and my 4GB SD cards don't actually have 4GB of free space, but I did do it with Mandriva 2010.0 on my desktop PC (an HP s3707c) using an SD card in the SD built-in card reader. Works fine on my PC. However, after posting my previous message, I tried it on my mother-in-law's PC (an HP 6110f) - no go. I suspect it's either a problem with /boot/grub/device.map not pointing hd0 to the proper device, or her PC not wanting to boot off the SD card.

I haven't tried it yet, but I'm wondering if copying a full install to the 4GB drive, then using extlinux as the bootloader instead of grub will do the trick.
