I've run the install to hard drive program three times over and each time I get "disk boot failure". I believe I've got Grub to install to the mbr but I am not sure.

System:
Barton 3200+ with 1GB of DDR1
Asus A7V333
High Point hard disk controller

other items

All the hard drives are hooked to the High Point controller. It recognizes all of them that have power hooked up and read/writes to them. Two have 98SE installs, the third is where I'm trying to install Fedora 12 to get away from some problems I'm having with 98SE.

The BIOS is set up to boot from the "SCSI device" which means it's booting from the High Point controller. The High Point lets me set a boot mark, which, when set to the Fedora drive, yields the disk boot failure no matter what I do to it.

Probably because unless you specified it during the installation, the bootloader would have been written to the first drive even if Fedora was on a different one.

Have you tried booting from the first drive?

Not yet. I have to figure out what the first drive is, lol. If I remember right, it's my 40GB Maxtor unit which has a corrupt install of 98SE that I never fixed. That's the drive I want to put Fedora on anyway but I have not pulled all the files from it that I need yet.

I think the last time I tried Fedora on this machine I disconnected power from all the other drives.

Will try booting from it later in the week. Right now I need to run the comp for some music practice.
