Hello Fedora Forum,

This is my first post and I hope its in the right section.
Sorry in advance if it isn't. Anyway...

I have a dedicated server where I host few of my domains. In the beginning I used couple of emails for all purposes such as shopping, registrations, etc. So I believe those email addys we sold from one company to another.

As a result now I am getting about 3-4k of SPAM everyday. I am deleting almost all of it with MS Outlook filters, but it takes a LOT of time and my PC resources before I receive them all.

Few of my friends recommended me to install SpamAssassin. I did a search on Google, but couldn't find more or less detailed tutorial on how to install it.

I am not really a Linux/Unix guru. I know how to login to my server with Telnet/SSH for basic stuff. I also know that my server is on Fedora 1 (probably an ancient version) - this is exactly what brought me here... I ve heard that SpamAssassin is supposed to be pre-installed, but I dont think I have it on my server. I also heard that SpamAssassin installation is not really easy...

Right now I have SpamAssassin3.3.0.tar file uploaded to temp folder on my server.

Where should I go and what to do after that?
Are there any useful HOWTO or tutorial for SpamAssasin Installation?

Thank you in advance,
almaz

Ok, Fedora 1 is a really, really old version, so you might have problems there.

Fedora is a RPM based system, so you should refrain from compiling packages yourself if not really necessary. This what you are going to do with the tar file.

You are updating your server (or so I hope) from time to time, how exactly are you doing it at the moment?
