View Full Version : two small, annoying problems with FC2

Hi, I just installed FC2 a couple of days ago and most everything works well with the exception of these two little problems I've noticed. I've never used fedora/red hat before so I'm hoping I've only missed a few small things.

Problem 1 - I'm used to having output from X sessions being redirected to ~/.xsession-errors, but I'm not getting that. Instead output is getting sent to /tmp/xses-<username>.XXXXXX, where XXXXXX are random characters. After searching these forums for "xsession-errors" its seems that people are getting a ~/.xsession-errors, so the behavior I'm experiencing is not normal for Fedora. Any Ideas? I'm using gdm for a dm if it helps

Problem 2 - Man pages aren't getting displayed correctly in xterm, rxvt, or aterm. Gnome terminal is ok though. Back ticks and single quotes are displayed with weird characters instead. The xterm man page is a good example of this for me ("EMULATIONS" section). I tried changing the fonts, but that did help. Some of the fonts I tried actually crashed X when I tried to view a man page. What's wrong?

Thanks,
BC
