View Full Version : how to install all packages in fedora 12

i have installed fedora 12 from a 1 Gb usb stick..and hence was not able to install all the packages that are available on the DVD version....i wish to install all the packages provided on the DVD...please help me out...how can i do this provided my optical drive is not working and i have a proper internet connection...also to the knowledge i have fedora 12 dvd iso image on my harddisk..if that could be of any use...

Open a terminal and run...

yum list | grep -vi installed | xargs -L10 yum -y install

xargs will take the packages listed by "yum list" and try to install them 10 at a time.

well thanx for the help..but this was not working since one of the yum was holding the lock continuously....

Just disable packagekit update applet in System>>preferences>>Startup Applications

Also it is possible to install the dvd version from a usb stick providing you have 4g plus one,

its for live discs but works on dvd images as well.
