When booting off the DVD for install, Anaconda does not fall back automatically to the generic video driver (2nd option in boot menu) for an unsupported video card, such as the GeForce 6100 series and ATI Radeon 9000. I tried both of these cards, and choosing the default option in the boot menu causes the system to lock up because X cannot start.

For systems with unsupported cards, such as the ones listed above, it would be nice for Anaconda to check what kind of video card is installed (already done), and then choose whether to use the default driver or the generic one.

Actual Results:
-System does not start X
-User must reboot and choose 2nd option in boot menu.
-Install proceeds normally.

Expected Results:
-System detects that generic driver is required based on video card detected.
-System automatically falls back to generic driver.
-Install proceeds normally without reboot.

What do you guys think? Would this be easy to implement for F13, and is there enough time before the freeze?

Hi,

Posting in a end user forum doesn't really make much of a difference. For feedback to developers, file it against bugzilla
