Fedora 11 ran fine on my Pentium III-733 PC with 256MB RAM and 10GB drive but I can't get anywhere with Fedora 12 install. The live CD just dies when I click "Install to hard drive" and using CD1 of the distro does not install the graphical front-end.
Is this hardware no longer adequate for Fedora 12? Thanks.

Does that explain it?

No, that doesn't explain the problem. A Pentium III is an i686-class CPU.

I should note that the Live CD does work although it takes a LONG time to load. Seems to have all functionality (although I did not check browser/network connection). It's just when I double-click on "Install to Hard Drive" I see briefly a message in my bottom status bar that disappears and nothing seems to happen.
Have tried with/without first creating the / and /boot partitions as explained in sticky thread (http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=223206).

Got same problem with a Celeron333/384MB RAM: graphical installer could not load with the "there is not enough memory for a graphical install" message. See that thread: "Adventures with F12 text based install" http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=234368
Trying to double-click on "Install to Hard Drive" from a live-CD has the same problem: just type the real command under the link from a terminal window and you'll see the text-based installer coming up...
BTW, upgrade from F9 to F12 went well on my server. Server is up and running well now: fast boot time, and less than 30% total memory used even with a gnome desktop.
