I am trying to get some Ralink based devices to work on Fedora 12. I can get rt2870 based devices to work, but not the rt2860. Anybody had any luck with rt2860? I am wondering if it is my device (Edimax 7708 CardBus) or the driver that is not compatible with Fedora 12 kernel.

I'm typing this via rt2860sta, from Fusion, on F12.

How did you get your rt2860sta device to work? To get my rt2870 device to work, I had to install the rt2870.bin firmware that I downloaded from Ralink Web site in /lib/firmware. The version of the firmware for rt2870 on Ralink Web site is V8. For rt2860, I downloaded V11 of the rt2860.bin firmware from Ralink Web site and copied it in /lib/firmware. However, the device does not appear in the list of interfaces (when I issue ifconfig -a) after I plug the PCMCIA card in. I downloaded the driver code 2009_0918_RT2860_Linux_STA_v2.2.0.0.tar.bz2 from Ralink Web site to build the kernel loadable module to be able to see if that driver would work better than the one provided with Fedora 12, but the driver code fails building in Fedora 12. Ralink kernel loadable module does compile under Fedora 11 and loads properly (I can detect my rt2860 device in Fedora 11).
I don't see any errors reported by dmesg when the card is inserted. All I see is the following trace::
pcmcia_socket:pcmcia_socket0: pccard: CardBus card inserted into slot 0
pci 0000:16:00.0: req 10 32bit mmio: [0xffff0000-0xffffffff]

I, uh, enabled the RPMFusion repos and did 'yum install rt2860'.
