So I have been testing both Fedora 12 and Ubuntu 9.10 and have come up with a fun little fact. I found that Fedora 12 Beta gave me fewer bugs than Ubuntu 9.10 RC1, on average about 3 to 1 against Ubuntu. I had a friend of mine come over with his new laptop with Windows 7 on it and put them up to a boot speed test and I beat him by three seconds with Fedora 11 and we tied with 12, and boy was he pissed when I told him 12 was still in beta stage. One question I do have is this, will Fedora offer a live update like Ubuntu and SUSE are doing?

Fedora updates all the time. There is an automatic notification. PackageKit will put an icon in the top panel when updates are available. You can also check updates when you wish with yum.

Upgrading from one version to another is a process that you should study. The Fedora Project web site has lots of info. I would check the F12 documentation as well as watch this forum to see how it goes for others. Most of the time I find it is better to do a fresh install of the new versions.

It will give you the option to...but you should only accept if you have a backup of everything on that computer and are open to the possibility of having to do a fresh install if things don't go well. I hear they are working on making this much better though.

Uniquely, my experience has been just the opposite. Far more bugs in F12. I'm sure a lot of variables play into this and results may differ from person to person.

...and from machine to machine. Regarding Ubuntu. I have had very little issues with karmic. Same is true regading Fedora11 and now 12. I have a simple Dell P4, single hard drive . Nothing outstanding. The only issue I've ever really had was with the intregrated Intel chip. It's now fixed with karmic and was never an issue with Fedora 11.
