Hi,
I've got a really annoying problem with a Wireless card. For the first time ever I installed Fedora Core 12 Beta and my wireless card worked out of the box but it locks up the whole computer if i do big downloads. I'm getting lots of these messages from the kernel,

b43-phy0 ERROR: PHY transmission error

lspci -nn states i have this card

00:0b.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Corporation BCM4306 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Controller [14e4:4320] (rev 03)

lsmod says i'm using the b43 driver.

I've tried downloading the drivers from here and replacing the /lib/firmware/b43 and legacy folders
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/19141977/b43-all-fw.tar.gz
and doing a modprobe -r b43, modprobe b43 then restarting the network to no avail I still get the transmission errors.

It worked fine with Fedora Core 11 and I don't really want to revert back because of other reasons.

I see lots of stuff on the net about this but I still haven't found an answer.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hang fire i hadn't done a yum update for a while just done it got new kernel no transmission errors yet also noticed a new openfwwf out looks like prob has been sorted.

that's good :)

just to note the openfwwf stuff is still pretty raw code, so problems like this aren't unexpected (I did try to make sure the note about openfwwf in the announcement is suitably low-key :>). It's kind of a 'it's great if it works but don't take it for granted' thing. You may still wind up having to use the proprietary driver or firmware in cases where openfwwf doesn't quite do the job yet.
