I'm a huge Gnome fan, but every minute I've used Gnome 2.28, I hate it even more.
The latest in a series of "usability" changes in Gnome is that the "edit menu" has disappeared from the Applications | Places | System menu on top.
Is there a weird gconf setting I have to add in order to get it working like it was before?
On a site note, I noticed an ugly black bubble on the top right corner, I believe I've heard of them called "Growl" notifications... Is there a way to change or remove them?

That'd be too easy. The option's gone.
Help

Remove from Panel

I know its there on Fedora 11. I'm looking at it right now. I tried adding a new menu panel, no luck. Not sure if this is a Fedora's Gnome bug, or a Gnome 2.28 bug.

Try to install alacarte-0.12.4-1.fc12.noarch.rpm
(missing on Gnome LiveCD)

Thanks, Lao! That worked.
Looks like the LiveCD gets more and more features cut off each release. I thought 'alacarte' was part of the default Gnome menu.

Found it.
It was missing on F12 Beta LiveCD.

I did a netinstall and it didn't come in that way either.
yum install alacarte

This was an intentional choice by the desktop team, though I'm not sure why. It's mentioned briefly in the release notes at https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Documentation_Desktop_Beat#GNOME_2.28 .

I'm not really finding the new Gnome much different from the last version. What other changes are ticking you off?
I'm just curious.

Automount storage options are hard coded atm. There's no Storage subdirectory under System anymore, and it's ignored if you create it. :(

I am just curious about why they decided not to install it by default. It is quite a handful feature for end users. Could you please point me out some clue? Maybe some mailing list archive?

I'm afraid I don't know - I haven't been subscribed to fedora-desktop for very long, so I don't have archives to look through.
