Sounds like the infamous gnome sinking volume bug. Make sure your system is up to date using yum (www.fedorafaq.org/#installsoftware). It may take a while the first time (usually about an hour with dsl), but after that, it will be much quicker (usually about two minutes). You should also post you /etc/modprobe.conf.

I think your /etc/modprobe.conf looks fine. What kernel are you running? uname -sr Did you update your system using yum like I suggested in my first reply?
Also, have you made sure your volume is up, and have you used the Soundcard Detection progam in Main Menu > System Settings?

You said it worked the other night, were you using the same kernel then? You may be suffereing from the infamous 2.6.8 kernel problems. Please post your pc specs.

......yes using the same kernel, the only thing I did was switch from gnome to KDE, and from reading around i think that may be a problem, im going to try to boot into gnome and see if it plays sound..
I'm using an intel pentium 4 1700 Mhz
and a creative audigy sound blaster gamer I think....
how long do you think until there will be a kernel update???

Read this (http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=22028). At this rate, I would suggest you use a previous kernel. However, I am not convinced you are having a kernel problem becuase you claim the soundcard worked fine a day ago on the same kernel.
What are you trying to play sound through? Try xmms and post any error messages. If the little equilizer bars kump while the file is playing, it means your setup is working and you need to check your volume and wiring.

Wait a second. I didn't know you had a second sound card! Thats why I asked you to post you pc specs...all of them.
You cannot use an onboard sound card and a pci one simultaneously. I have the same setup here. You have to disable you onboard sound card in you bios for the pci one to work. There may be a way to use two simultaneously, but I don't know how :(
Thats why your /etc/modprobe.conf was using the intel drivers

......so if i would disable my onboard sound (if its not already disabled), i might get sound......or if i take out my sound blaster, i might get at least onboard sound????? Percisely. You can only use one card at a time, unless you make some extra changes to /etc/modprobe.conf.
