MSI K8N Neo w/ .14 BIOS (Cool 'n Quiet)

Anyone notice that with Cool 'n Quiet enabled in BIOS the machine runs faster and generates higher temperatures than with it turned off? Maybe the setting is backwards from what it says???

Not happening that way for me? you got any of the other BIOS settings set? In Windoze the cool + quiet program/dynamic overclocking (not in win ATM) seemed to keep things under control. In Linux not noticed any real difference with it turned on or off.

I run folding@home 24/7 so my temps are pretty static.

My board came with BIOS 1.2. When I bumped it to 1.3, I noticed the temps where a little strange between a cold boot and a warm boot. BIOS 1.4 supposedly fixed this so I bumped it again. Now when Cool 'n Quiet is DISABLED my temps run about 40C. With Cool 'n Quiet ENABLED, my temps jump to 50C, but the side effect is that my system seems much more responsive. I'm going to leave Cool 'n Quiet on since performance is performance, but it seems backwards to me. Surely if you generate more heat from a BIOS setting like that, then the processor is running harder, wouldn't you think?

FYI: Most of the BIOS settings are set to Auto. This thing is so much faster than my P4, I didn't see any need at the moment to O/C it.

BTW, these temps are with F@H running, which is always the case. :) Maybe I can take over the ninth FedoraFolders spot with the added boost. :D
