View Full Version : askmethod not working?

I just tried to do a fresh rawhide--I simply dd'd boot.iso, which is supposed to work, and does, actually, it boots. However, typing askmethod at the end of the kernel line didn't work.

The release notes, at least the easy to find ones, simply say use boot.iso to do a network install.

The release notes say use a live CD, which I don't want to do, as I like to do my own customizing. I don't even remember how I did it last time, possibly a minimal F11 and upgrade.

How does one install it, without using a live CD?

The solution *seems* to be that it's changed to method=http: and the url, but that didn't work either. In the end, I used unetbootin, which downloads the files one needs to start a network install, and that worked well.

Hi,

What you did was right. You merely ran into a bug which has been fixed

https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-devel-list/2009-August/msg00696.html

If you have issues in rawhide look up fedora-devel list, fedora test list and bugzilla. Usually one of these will pin point you to a bug report

Thanks as always. Ok, I'll probably give it a try later on this week, or possibly next week.

Hrrm, seems to still be an issue. Neither the boot.iso from alt, or a few tries from various mirrors, dated yesterday, will allow me to do a network install.

Anyone know where I can get a working boot or net iso?
