Read this article, the author claimed that a biz switch from linux back to windows because of website crash and etc.

http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,1651187,00.asp

Quote from one of the article section
"Personal care products maker Combe Inc., of White Plains, N.Y., developed and administered its Web sites with an ISP running a Linux-Oracle platform about nine years ago and started the switch back to Windows two years ago"

Do you think 9 years ago oracle DB runs on Linux ?
Oracle DB FIRST runs on Linux in 1998 (he was talking about 9 years ago which is in 1995)
The worse statement is they blame a PHP website error on the operating system

""There was a limit set up within the program that said you can only order 'x' amount of products within one transaction," Roy said. "When one of our guests went over the limit, it crashed the whole store. We then had to manually identify the erroneous credit card charges.""

That error is caused by bad recursive and bad database design (mysql) and stupid programmer, everyone could program but not everyone could make a solid code! i know because i'm an educator!

This article shows how much moronic this person is. go and read and judge it for yourself :p

It is a result of uninformed switches. People switch to linux without understanding their systems, capabilities, and personell. They just need more research, otherwise it just won't work. Of course it is easy to pass blame onto something that you don't control, rather than your personell.

I agree, but my point was that he is getting some of these false quotes because of the uninformed switch.

It is a problem with the reporter and is perpetuated by the people giving the quotes. Thats my opinion

May I join this administrators' chat?
You should write (email) eweek and the author and inform him of how he is helping spread the misinformation.

Hehe, it does seem like an admin chat doesn't it. Looks like mine and ewdi's im logs.

Well writing letters is a good idea, unfortunately sometimes he still won't get it. But if we can gather enough facts here and send a link to this thread then maybe he will get the point.

Change the world one reporter at a time.
