I have Rawhide installed on one of the boxes here, but admittedly, I haven't been playing with it too much as I've had major issues with the video drivers, so much so that I was getting no GUI at all until I finally switched xorg.conf to the nv driver. Now that the video issue is sort of solved I find that nautilus is nowhere to be found. Not even installed. This will explain why I have no desktop icons, as well as many other things. Anyhow, I yum installed nautilus and things are much better. The desktop icons have decided to make an appearance and the file browser works. Anyone else had nautilus totally missing from the system? I'd call it pretty strange.

I just have to ask .
How did you manage to NOT install that ???????

Beats me! Had a running F11 system on that box and set it up for rawhide. I've been booting it and taking all the updates as they come along. The display went haywire at some point so I just kept playing with it. When I finally got a GUI there were no desktop icons. Clicking on Places > Home Folder yielded an error about "No application to access bla bla bla", so I couldn't even browse my home folder or any other folder for that matter. By chance I did rpm -qa grep nautilus and lo and behold nautilus.i386 was shown as available (and not installed by the way). At that point I installed it and here we are. There's been some other strange stuff too. Until now, when I use System > Shutdown there was never an option to shutdown or reboot, just switch user, log off Glenn, etc, so I've been using the power button to power off the machine. These options are back now too. This is fun.
