I have noticed that many applications direct their sound according to where they are positioned on the desktop.
E.g. - Open gnome-calculator and maximise it. Click on the left-hand side buttons and then on the ones to the right... You could also just move the window around while clicking the buttons.
I tried the same thing in Ubuntu (Jaunty), and it didn't work.
Edit: (Pardon my English... I'm just like wow!, this is amazing....) :D
