I'm trying to install Fedora 11 Lxde respin cd on my Dell Inspiron 2650, an older laptop. When it start to boot, it gets to the Prefetch message and stops. Any ideas on how I can get this to install?

Not sure if the prefetch issue is the only issue, but other newer distros seem to have some type of issue installing also, the regular Fedora 11 cd, Mandriva 2009 & Ubuntu Jaunty.

I had to have it boot in text mode to find out about prefetch. Without using text mode, all I would see is a blinking cursor in the upper left hand corner, with all distros.

Ubuntu 8.04 is the current version on it now.

Intel
Processor model: Pentium 4 Processor-M

Hard drive size: 20 GB
Graphics processor: nVidia GeForce2 Go 100

integrated 10/100-Mbps Ethernet

Thnx.

Not sure what is the issue with alot of the latest distros but I was able to install Debian using the netinst iso. Only thing I had to do was add acpi=off for boot kernel options. I did try it with Fedora, Mandriva, Ubuntu & Crunchbang with no luck.

Thnx.
