bittorrent FC3

currenlty doing a BT download of FC3 DVD. I well apreciate the spirit of bittorrent but I'm downloading at 4KiBs and uploading at 22KiBs and have been for hours and hours. Argh this download is going to take forever, this is the first BT download I've had where this has been a problem.

may be over simplifying but does this mean the FC3 download is popular, or just that no one is contributing to the torrent after completing thier download.

Any suggestions.

in bittorrent, the more popular the download, the faster the download because many people will share. that is if they share.

you may wanna try www.distrowatch.com and do your download from there....much faster

When I downloaded the FC2 CDs via bittorrent, I got just over 300Kb/s download and 40Kb/s upload. I think 2 things are working against you with FC3T2 - it's a test release, and it's a DVD ISO. Try bittorrent on FC3 CDs when it comes out and you'll be amazed at how fast you can get the ISOs, especially since the FTP sites will be swamped and running at around 5Kb/s.

I just downloaded the DVD image yesterday over bittorrent... it started off slow, but I was getting over 200k per second by the end of it.

still took over 4 hours, of course... big honkin' image that one. :-)

Still struggling to get any download speed, but will live with the wait..... .... ..... ... .. .

its really probably best to use a close mirror from the nmirrors list.

took 2.5 hours from one of the mirrors to get the fc3t2 dvd iso. I tend to get really bad torrent speeds when it comes to getting linux images.

Let me just make this very clear: Fedora Core 3 is not relased. There is a test release out, you should know that test releases are for testing the Core, not for day-to-day use. Testing involves finding issues, research them (with the help of the fedora-test mailing list) and writing (proper) bug rapports.

If you want to use your system for other stuff, use a stable Core.

Whilst probably not the point you were making, the FC2 final relase DVD iso downloads at a blistering rate on Bittorrent. Currently downloading FC2 final instead.
