My Abit AN8 SLi based system (Fedora 11 X86_64) suffers wierd shutdown while booting. System is powered off just after message "Probing EDD (edd=off to disable)... ok" (just after selecting gurb/kernel)
Most of boot attempts will succeed, but about 1 of 5 boots will fail. Also rebootting system may end after "Probing EDD (edd=off to disable)... ok" to poweroff.
This happens always in same phase of boot, if it happens. After booting succesfully system is rock solid.
After shutdown mb post code identification leds shows 9.9 which means "Complete power off squence".
This is very annoying because system is used as VDR systems file server and is powered up by WOL and shutdown to save power when VDR clients are not active.
I can't find any error logs in /var/log or /boot.
This is not only Fedora problem. I tested this to occur also with Ubuntu 9.04 X86_64.
I have tried almost every bios settings(latest bios version), and with different memories and cpu and psu.
