Hi,
I just upgraded my AMD64 from F10 to F11. The upgrade went ok, but since then the light of the floppy drive stays on. "mount" and /etc/fstab show nothing about the floppy drive. Any ideas on how to solve this?
Thanks.

F11 has a known problem with the kernel floppy driver module not loading at startup, see this bug:

Thank you. Will wait for the udev update.

I have the same problem with my floppy drive. I'll login and the floppy drive's light stays on and continuous clicking (as if it were looking for a floppy). Rather annoying. I hope the update comes out soon.

There is also a bug report I have been following at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=489083 which seems more relevant to my issue of the floppy light staying on, that is a Devicekit-disks issue rather than udev.
Some people have reported the update DeviceKit-disks-004-4.fc11 in updates-testing fixed the issue for them, but I think that has only been fixed for x64 as I'm on DeviceKit-disks-004-3.fc11.i586 and it won't find any updates for me, sigh. So I'm waiting for that one to appear.
But that bug thread got my floppy drive to stop spinning (by disabling it) using 'modprobe floppy' to start grinding noises followed by 'rmmod floppy' to get rid of it; although it only worked on two out of the three servers I had this issue on, didn't fix the third. It may work for you though.

Updating to DeviceKit-disks-004-4 fixed it for me.
@markdk, there's an i586 version of it available here:
ftp://mirrors.kernel.org/fedora/updates/testing/11/i386/DeviceKit-disks-004-4.fc11.i586.rpm
You might need to get the -devel package with it as well. (It's in the same place.)

I have just updated my software, the floppy drive issue is fixed. Thanks for the info everyone.

Thank you @jcliburn, I was able to get the rpm there and installed that and the udev one. It has resolved the issue on my two newer machines so thanks all. Didn't work on a really old HP server so I'll just unplug the floppy on that one.
