In spite of some us enjoy the ease of use of CLI apps like yum, there are lots more that hate the command line simply because they feel itīs too difficult or lots more because they are coming from Window$ and they donīt know about it.
Is there a gui for yum like synaptic for apt??
Better than that, would be an frontend that could join both apt and yum. Donīt know if there are currently any projects on these areas, but i think it would be great.

if you are a programmer, then you can help.

@mip it is not much help for you, but if you browse to /var/cache/yum you can browse in the headers directories. With MC or Nautilus or smth like that it can be quiete comfortable.

I think it is more a Fedora Focus thread. *moved*

I was trying to find a good one as well and came across one called Cobind. No clue as to how good it is, but if you want to take a look at it, it's at http://cobind.com/yumgui.html

I'm gonna have to agree with ghaefb. The gnome-yum project at http://gnome-yum.sourceforge.net/ is the way to go.
Yumex was fairly functional, but slow and unresponsive at times. gnome-yum strikes a good balance between cli and GUI.

Gnome yum seems to target advanced users while yumex is very good for beginners. The author should submit that package for extras repository.
Interesting that Fedora provide a very good variety of frontend for yum.
