Well, if it still works then I consider you to be a very lucky man because it is not too bad to have a laugh everytime your computer wakes up from hibernation.

You could try http://people.freedesktop.org/~hughsient/quirk/quirk-suspend-debug.html which seems to be an excellent source for debugging what could be wrong with waking up from suspend or hibernation.

Interesting script. It says "suspend should work", and indeed I didn't have a problem with my previous distro (RedHat EL clone).

The laptop was still feeling sleepy, I guess.

i've got an old laptop with severe graphics hardware problems sitting next to me. it won't get all the way into gdm so i can use it, but startup can be amusing. it seems to write every 4th bit of every 4th byte as a 1 whether it should be or not when displaying ascii text. this results in messages like:
"Bgotifg the kerfel"
and
"Readifg adl p'ysical voluees. Thas may take a whale.&."
i hope you just had a random glitch and not a failing video card. i assume you're using a laptop, since desktops rarely get hibernated. it's a pain to get video cards replaced on laptops unless they're under warranty still.
