I woke up today, surfed to fedoraforum.org while taking coffee and found a new design detail: the boxes on the left, with the user's data. While they're informative, it seems to me they take up too much space when one writes a small thread. Your opinions, gentlemen?... ;)

i asked ewdi and he told me some people were requesting cetain things to display.......so i guess its cool beside they are the administrators.....:D

How about aligning the contents inside the box to the left instead of centre. That way the box can also be resized, which gives users more space when typing out smaller threads.

Indeed, I also liked the icon more then the written "offline" or "online".

The earned reputation points are shown which is a great improvement, IMHO.

if you dont like to scroll, switch to threaded mode then

that way you can see it all without scrolling :)
btw the left box size never change

Yeah I liked the status icon also as compared to the written format. How about sticking to the status icons and including the reputation points as well? I think that would be a simple, clean outlook. Too bad the stubborn left box size refused to budge :p

I was also thinking of this. Can we have funny reputable comments instead? Somehow the "formality" doesn't seem very appealing to me. I will post again if I have to think of any. Those who have a knack for humor might want to give me a hand at this as well.

Strange: before I had 10 points and was on a distinguished road, but now I have 120 points and ... (OK, I don't remember, but something way better). Did you add some points to everyone (most people have 120 points now)? Mass promotion, heh

Anyway, I don't understand the point system

But whatever you do, I like it :p

this looks weird to me, or did you want it this way?

Now now be nice earobinson111, you are supposed to give feedback and constructive criticism. Refrain from using words such as stupid. Instead make a suggestion or post a query.

The following would have been a better way of typing it. "I noticed the Post Quick Reply and Go Advanced do not follow the same format as Quote and Reply Post. Was this left out intentionally or intended to be as such. Please advise." Now that was more subtle and courteous, was it not?

On a side note, also do not condone any person's idea or suggestion. No idea or suggestion is wrong or bad. Its just that we all have different views about things. ;)

No worries at all earobinson111. Yeah ewdi, explain the rating system. All the random placement of numbers are rather mind-boggling. :)

Hey ewdi,

The reputation is not shown when your not logged in. Shouldn't that be changed so
unregistered visitors can see the reputation of the poster.

The reputation points have since changed, again. Are the admins looking for a new point system or the current one will do? Kindly explain the reputation point system and its periodic change.

ewdi
2nd October 2004, 06:05 PM
i gave everyone 100 points last time, and it was given by mass thru database changed, every month we indexed our database, the rep point tor evert back to the real point everytime it index the database.

sayeeth
2nd October 2004, 06:10 PM
Ahhh now I know. So are you going to throw in additional points in the future or are you going to stick to this? I somehow prefer the real point system. That way you don't have to give everyone additional points each and every time after the database is indexed. Unless of course you have loads of time on your hand. What do you think? ;)

ewdi

I have seen shops selling them, though I can't remember off-hand which ones. Been some time since I went there.
