Hi folks,
Has any folk tried following motherboards?
Biostar TA790GX A3+
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138141
Gigabyte 770-UD3P
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128392
Any problem?
My planned configuration of the new box:-
AMD CPU Phenom II X4 955
RAM 2 sets DDR3 1333 dual channel (2Gx2) (total 8G)
The box will be used for testing Virtualization (server consolidation, Linux servers), no graphic editing nor gaming.
Will onboard video card eat CPU resource? TIA
B.R.

They both look like decent mobos, but the Biostar board's reviews were pretty bad...
The video will eat up to 512MB (usually) of your RAM, but if you're going with 8GB then I wouldn't worry about it...you'll still be throwing away more than the video will steal. :)
I personally would go AM2 instead of AM3, but that's just my own personal taste...the reason is because with AM3, you can't get GeForce graphics unless you go with a high-end mobo like the ASUS M4N82 (now there's a great board) at $190. I just don't like ATI, never have.
If you're set on buying one of these two boards, I pick the Gigabyte.

Hi rpstitz,
Thanks for your advice.
Any comment on following mobo;

and

That ASUS board is great for what you want, but if you decide to move up to 16GB of memory, it has problems...also Virtualization isn't supported even though the documentation claims it is...perhaps a BIOS update will fix this problem, but I wouldn't hold my breath...other than that, it's an awesome board and the onboard video (even if it is ATI) is more than enough for even a hard-core gamer.
The Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P is an awesome board and I can't find anything about it to complain about...I can't vouch for its compatibility with Linux because I haven't actually tried it, but the 790X chipset is promising and as sweet as the specs are, I think I would take a chance on it for the price. But then again, I have no idea what I'm saying and this post is for entertainment purposes only...lol
