my torrent client (Transmission 1.51 - Default for Fedora 10) has been freezing my G604T modem from time to time... so i'm wondering if anyone knows of any good torrent client program that i can use which would handle the problem i'm having.
i don't think my problem has anything todo with the download/upload speed because i can download big files directly very quickly but i don't seem to be able to download using torrent. I don't think it's got to do with number of downloads either as i have limited my downloads to 1 torrent at a time but problem still persists. I think it is more todo with users pinging or making requests to my pc, can the number of requests be controlled? i know i can limit the number of peers
any suggestions would be muchly appreciated

I use Qbittorrent, search through the forum (it is maintained by Leigh, need a special repo) I found it quite useful, I never have a problem with it. However the gui is quite simple.

When you say your ADSL modem freezes, do you mean that all internet traffic slows down when your torrents slow down, or only your torrent slows down, everything else, at the moment of torrent slow down, is working fine? If everything except the torrent is running fine, then it sounds like your ISP might be throttling your torrents. If your ISP is throttling your torrent connections, I think the only thing you can do is tell the client to use only encrypted peers.

Try enabling encryption, in transmission its under preferences >peers and check ignore unencrypted peers
