Fedora 11 Preview

hi,

Using the live cd,as with the Beta the Preview still has a problem with partitioning drives where the installer crashes when attempting to partition. No matter which option i use it still crashes. Not sure if it happens with the dvd. it did with the beta version.

Any ideas how to get round this?

PS love the live cd.. which i could install it

It failed for me too. I am not exactly certain how I progressed beyond the failure but here are the steps that I tried. Note: I achieved this twice now using roughly the same steps.

Select partition whole disk
Check the box to review the partition changes
Select a partition and select option to edit it (I didn't change anything just pretented that I was going to)
Save and continue

If that fails, as it did for me, run through it a second time. Probably Anaconda is successfully saving the partition layout to disk but is unable to use the new partition layout until a reboot. This happens to me when I restore a partition layout using sfdisk --force (even if it does indicate that it refreshed the partition table).

Hope this gets you further along.

Thanks for that I will give that a go on my other machine.

I managed to update this machine from Fedora 10 to Fedora 11 Preview using yum by enabling the Rawhide repository then updating RPM then running yum update. I had go into init 3 though but it updated without a hitch. I can't do that on the other machine as it only has windows on.

Thanks once again for your help,

Gordy
