Concerned about the health status of your HDDs ? Don't want to risk losing your valuable pr0n/music/video collection, but baffled by the command-line interface of smartctl ?? Want a GUI to manage/manipulate S.M.A.R.T. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S.M.A.R.T.) on your HDDs ??? Here's one: gsmartcontrol (http://gsmartcontrol.berlios.de/home/index.php/en/Home)

YUM repos for F7 thru F17: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/alex_sh/

F17 Repo file (download and copy to /etc/yum.repos.d/): http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/alex_sh/Fedora_17/home:alex_sh.repo (other Fedora release repo files in their respective directories at the site).

GTK-based. Requires smartmontools (Duh!). GPG-signed and looks good here on F8, F10, F11 & F12.

Hello ,

I've tried it on kernel ,no go .

In xsession-errors there is :

/usr/bin/gsmartcontrol-root: regel 73: xmessage: opdracht niet gevonden

translates : line command not found

Can't find anything else as for a clue .

I suppose I'll have to wait until updates arrive ?

Because this isn't part of Fedora ,I'm not supposed to notify here .

But I don't now where I should

Refer to: http://gsmartcontrol.berlios.de/home/index.php/en/Support
and see the "Reporting Bugs" section.

This issue certainly appears to be with GSmartControl, not smartmontools or other.

Thank you Hlingler and Nokia for your quick reactions .

the site http://gsmartcontrol.berlios.de/home/index.php/en/Support has given my some interesting ideas .

However ,I didn't had to report a bug ,the problem was in my system ( permissions ,selinux )

I like to work with/on Selinux ,but sometimes things go bad :)

Thanks again
