hi!

I am new in linux but i practice with live cd. I burn a dvd of fedora 11 beta iso and i tried to boot it. I got this message instead.

ISOLINUX 3.73 2009-01-25 ETCD COPYRIGHT.....COULD NOT FIND KERNEL IMAGE: LINUX
BOOT: (the computer has this point, is waiting for a response)

Should i used the usb stick to get the missing kernel?
or Did i got the wrong version of dvd?
Can you help me please?

I have window 2000 in one hardrive and i would like to install fedora 11 beta in the second hardrive, which is a sata.
I boot fedora throught external dvd drive.

umm, if you new to linux, why are you using a beta? download Fedora10This is pre-release software. The Fedora Project makes no guarantees as to its suitability or usefulness. All issues should be reported via the Red Hat Bugzilla. Read the Beta release notes for more information.

Moved to "F11 Alpha/Beta".

beta (and alpha) mean that these are experimental releases. They tend to break, they also come with lots of debugging code in the kernels, which will make them more likely to crash.

After alpha and beta usually comes an RC, release candidate. This might or might not have the debugging code removed. Then, depending upon distribution, there might be a pre-release, meaning it's almost ready.

So, in many cases, there are problems that are being worked on. For example, I've seen several posts on the Fedora-testing list about the beta failing to boot. I didn't burn the DVD, I put the boot.iso on a USB stick (using a program called unetbootin that's good at that sort of thing--in tihs case, using the Fedora tool that is similar didn't work for some reason) and installed it that way, using a network share. Therefore, I haven't been following that thread on the mailing list and don't know how many people have the problem, if there's a workaround, etc.

So, in general, especially when you're new, you're better off avoiding the alpha, beta and release candidates. Those are usually for folks who expect things to not work and are used to finding ways to fix the problems.

Of course, F10 was released with several problems (most fixed with a single update--they really should have made a second release a week or so later with these issues fixed, but....) at least, most of those are either covered in the release notes, or covered in the rather long sticky thread we have in general support, 5 common problems and how to fix them.

Hope this helps to clarify it.
