Recently I bought a latitude E6500. This problem also exists in 3 other E6500 and E6400 laptops my friends bought.
These laptops has CD burning problems. After searching google I found that it can be fixed by upgrading the optical drive firmware. This firmware can be downloaded from here (http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/downloads/en/downloads_splash?c=us&cs=rc956904&l=en&s=hied&~mode=popup&file=290229). But in fedora I don't know what is the problem. In windows people confirmed that this upgraded fixed their problem. The exact problem is that the optical drive can read CD/DVD, can burn DVD, but can not burn CDs. When I insert a blank CD which can be burned by other optical drives, k3b says that Insert a blank CD. It seems that the drive can not understand blank CDs. I tested several CDs in all laptops. So I think this is a linux firmware problem. I wanted to ask you guys before submitting a bug.
