since i installed fedora i can hear the start up sound greeting me each time i log in but i cannot play any mp3:

installed latest ver. of Xine And Gstreamer and installed Elisa and a lot of other players but till now no sound

could this be because another program is locking my sound driver

configured the multimedia options and deferred and preferred every thing but also nothing

don't know but here in this forum about fedora 11 i can't find any solution and no body helps plz guys i need to hear something..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

any ideas?????????:confused::mad:

Can you try using mplayer? It provides the most useful information when you try to play a file. Install the mplayer package, then try and play a file from the console with mplayer, and tell us what happens.

Remember fedora doesn't come with propriatory drivers. Look for dangermouse's autoten under the 'howto' thread. It'll make your life easier.

Edit: sorry I didn't see fedora 11. I believe you want the gstreamer plugins good, bad and ugly. Sorry I'm running F10.
