I have a raid 5 array on a Fedora 10 system. My partitions are: /dev/sda1 = that's where the system lives, /dev/sdb1, /dev/sdc1, /dev/sdd1 = that's my raid array. Everything works fine but every now and then when I boot Fedora with a pen drive or a memory card plugged in, the removable drive gets assigned a drive/partition letter/number /dev/sdd1. The last partition of the array is assigned /dev/sde1 or something similar and raid boots with only 2 devices active since it can't find the last raid enabled volume. Then I have to re-add the missing device to raid after rebooting with the pen drive unplugged. Let me just add that I have an /etc/mdadm.conf file which lists all the physical partitions participating in the array. Is there anyway to fix the drive letters/numbers so that Fedora always sees drives as the same ones?
