Intel Pro 2100 wifi problems

Hey all,

I'm running FC2 kernel 2.6.8-1.521 on an IBM Thinkpad T41 with an Intel Pro 2100 ( ipw2100 ) mini-pci built-in card. I've installed the following packages from ATRPMs.net with no problem:

hostapd-0.1.3-1.rhfc2.at.i386.rpm
ipw2100-firmware-1.2-3.at.noarch.rpm
hostap-driver-0.1.3-4.rhfc2.at.i386.rpm kernel-module-hostap-2.6.8-1.521-0.1.3-4.rhfc2.at.i686.rpm
hostap-utils-0.1.3-2.rhfc2.at.i386.rpm kernel-module-ipw2100-2.6.8-1.521-0.53-16.rhfc2.at.i686.rpm
ipw2100-0.53-16.rhfc2.at.i386.rpm

Upon reboot, kudzu detects the card, I go through the configuration continue booting. However dmesg shows the following upon booting:

The card shows up in system-config-network as eth1 but it's inactive ! If I try to activate it I get the following error message :

ipw2100 device eth1 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization.

If I try to do a modprobe ipw2100 I get :

FATAL: Error inserting ipw2100 (/lib/modules/2.6.8-1.521/updates/drivers/net/wireless/ipw2100/ipw2100.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)

Pressing FN + F5 turns on only the Bluetooth card and not the WiFi card. I've uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled several times with the same results. I've gone through all the posts in this forum as well as groups.google.com but haven't found a solution yet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Just for the record, I've downgraded to the 2.6.7-1.456_4 kernel, and I've gotten my built in Intel Pro 2100 WiFi card working with the following packages:

kernel-2.6.7-1.456_4.rhfc2.at

kernel-module-hostap-2.6.7-1.456_4.rhfc2.at-0.1.3-4.rhfc2.at
hostap-driver-0.1.3-4.rhfc2.at

kernel-module-ipw2100-2.6.7-1.456_4.rhfc2.at-0.53-17.rhfc2.at
ipw2100-0.53-17.rhfc2.at

I'm absolutely ecstatic :D
One more step closer to becoming completely independent of Windows ! Actually I wiped out my windows partition this morning and just reinstalled Fedora Core 2 with the above setup (i'm still installing all the over packages I need).
