Hi,
I'm fairly new with Fedora and I am having the hardest time getting my Microsoft VX-3000 webcam to work. I have looked through lists on line and other forums, and I know it's compatible, and I am pretty sure I need this driver (gspcav1) to make it work. I have looked everywhere for this thing and can't seem to find it. If there is any more info. you need to be able to help me, please write down what I need to do and the instructions on how to do them (if it involves getting info from command line). Thank you in advanced to any who attempt to help.

I can say that when I run the lsusb command (which I learned how to do searching through a different forum) I get this as the output pertaining to the webcam.

Bus 003 Device 004: ID 045e:00f5 Microsoft Corp. LifeCam VX-3000

Not sure if that helps at all, but I am trying to use the webcam for Skype, and Skype doesn't seem to notice it exists.

Hi stephangross6

I have been searching and tries since a month or so, none that will work for VX-3000 webcam on my machine!!

If you are on Fedora 10, they are already included in kernel... But for VX-3000 webcam will not work... I was not able to find which webcams that will work.....

I believe VX-3000 is gspca2, not gspca1...

If you are Fedora 9 or less, I believe there is one link that might work... If I find one, i will post in for you to follow the instruction...

I probably won't end up trying this just because it says that it's dangerous and could cause the system to crash. As much as I would love to use the webcam, I would much rather not risk effing up my OS, but thank you for the suggestion.
