I just installed FC2, fresh, and noticed that the part where it asks me to nominate my monitor was skipped (as opposed to FC1), and the installation assumed I had a BenQ FP767 lcd monitor, when I really have a BenQ FP737. Fine, except that the max resolution I can set to is 1152xsomething or other, not 1280x1024. So I click on RedHat menu, System Settings, and Display, enter root password, hardware tab, and configure my monitor type to Generic LCD 1280x1024. Only after changing, there is still no option for 1280x1024 resolution on the settings tab? Logging in and out does nothing, and with my very limited knowledge of xorg.conf file and much fiddling, logging in and out willy nilly and getting to hate vi very fast, I finally got 1280x1024 to display but it was not an elegant solution. Is this a bug, am I doing something wrong?
I have a RIVA TNT video card btw, and I am starting to think that this is causing the limit on my screen resolution, as I put the BenQ monitor on another pc with different video card and all the possible screen resolutions show up.
Is there a site where I can find out what resolutions are available for this video card?
If you reply, please remember I am a 2 week old Linux baby.
