I tried to install FC3 test 1 on my new DIMENSION 8400 :
- P4 530
- Chipset i925
- SATA HDD
- ATI X300SE Video card
- 512 Mb DDR2 PC 4200.
When I try to run FDRUID during the install I get an error message telling me that no HD can be partionned. Does anyone get the same problème?

Moved to Fedora Core 3 Test Releases.
You mean Disk Druid.
Did you try Automatic partitioning ?

Yes I tried both. I think the HDD has not been detected. I don't know if the SATA for the MB is supported. Is it possible to get the driver for this SATA port and use it during install?

I just bought an 8400 and tried to install Core 2, and I kept getting an error saying "no hard drive found." Apparently there are issues installing Linux on an sata hard drive. I tried to install Suse also with no luck.

I saw on Dell forum that to be able to detect HDD on linux you need to change the bios setting to RAID/SATA. I can't check this at the moment (I am at work  ). I will try it tonight. If someone can try this let me know.

I tried with the combinaison mode in the bios (RAID/SATA) and it is working for me. If you have a windows install you will have to install it again :(. But you don't need any special driver anymore :).

Ok, where/what is the exact setting I need to modify in the 8400 BIOS? I don't remember seeing a specific RAID/SATA setting for the HD. Please advise. Thanks alot.

the setting is at the enf of the drive setting. This is working for HDD not working in RAID. I try to configure a raid now but I can't install any linux distrib. no hard disk detected. Has someone tried this?
