Installed KDE 4.2 on my laptop today which runs Fedora 10. As an aside, I run KDE 4.2 on Ubuntu 8.10 at home.
From what I can tell from using it today it is a lot more stable than kde 4.1.x, and moderately more stable than Ubuntu kde 4.2.
1. System Tray will show corrupted icons and there is something called qt-subapplication which if double click removes my task bar and crashes kde.
2. Google gadgets don't work, mostly it is impossible to add them and when you do plasma crashes. The KDE widgets act strangely, for example the RSS widget doesn't seem to work and if you lock the system monitor widget and press a button it will crash. Maybe google gadgets should be optional for tinkerers until it is more stable.
3. Forget enabling effects, it is prone to crashing, I have disabled it. (I don't use compiz in gnome either)
4. kde 4 is bloated, I wonder how much efficiency can be gained by people making improvements to the code?
5. Copying files, it might be just me but if I copy something in kde 4.2 the progress bar shows for a short amount of time and then it disapears...
Had no problem with printing, samba
To summarise, it is getting there but I am have to be careful not to play around with the task bar or widgets too much.
