Well, I have spent ages trying to get my IR to see my Nokia 5100. By default the laptop tries to use sir_dev / irtty_sir modules. I run irdadump and see that the IRDA is polling and it shows the laptop, but it never discovers the phone. I have been through the HOW_TO documents and anything else I have found on using IRDA, nothing has worked.

The IRDA device in the bios is FIR/3E8/IRQ10/DMA0.

When I run the findchip binary it gives the output: NSC,PC87338,11.2,0x398,0x3e8,0x3e8,10,0,1,0,1

Like I said, irtty_sir etc are loaded automatically. I tried setting up irda0 and nsc-ircc, I have to stop the irda service, unload the autoatically loaded modules with modprobe -r and then manually load this, but it fails with the error of wrong chip.

Can anyone help me with this? Had a similar problem? Please help!!!! :(

P.s the irdadump output is currently:

09:02:27.198431 xid:cmd b196b418 > ffffffff S=6 s=0 (14)
09:02:27.288360 xid:cmd b196b418 > ffffffff S=6 s=1 (14)
09:02:27.378341 xid:cmd b196b418 > ffffffff S=6 s=2 (14)
09:02:27.468324 xid:cmd b196b418 > ffffffff S=6 s=3 (14)
09:02:27.558317 xid:cmd b196b418 > ffffffff S=6 s=4 (14)
09:02:27.648297 xid:cmd b196b418 > ffffffff S=6 s=5 (14)
09:02:27.738284 xid:cmd b196b418 > ffffffff S=6 s=* laptop hint=0400 [ Computer ] (22)

Maybe this will help, although I don't think so...
