i can't hear anything from my new installed fedora 10 - but in XP SP2 it works perfectly ...
i have onboard soundcard - and some sites told me that is realtek azalia ...
also - the motherboard model is Gigabyte (GA) M61SME-S2L - detailed in site http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=2644 :)
i also tried some versions of realtek drivers for linux, and also of audigy 2 ... none worked ...
someone told me to ask in the forum - that i might get help there... (he said it might/should be a fedora bug ... )
i hope you can do something :)
greetings to all - shalom! :)
andrei.

after installing alsa-driver (I guess that you compiled the sources) you should run alsaconf and then reboot

hope that'll help you ;)

I'm having the same problem on my HP DV5000 laptop. I haven't been able to get any sound other than system beeps in Fedora 10 since installing it yesterday. The sound card works fine in WinXP. I'm a noob at linux, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

here's the info for my system:

nevermind. I looked around a few other forum posts and found that for some reason the installation had muted PCM volume. I unmuted it and everything's fine now.
