Howdy, y'all,
I upgraded from FC8 x64 to FC10 x64 and have run into a few problems. I've managed to fix the biggest one, which was my video driver (thanks leigh123!), and now I'm just trying to get some things ironed out. The update notifier popped up and said I had 403 (rough guess, forget the actual number) updates to be applied, so I told it to go for it. 4 hours later, it was still "resolving dependancies", so I killed it.
Next step was a yum update. That failed with dependency issues, specifically rhythmbox and gimp. I then tried an update skip-broken, and that just threw all kinds of dependancy garbage up on the screen for about 20 minutes before I killed it.
I've been browsing around the forum trying to find a similar issue, but haven't been successful. I've run the
yum clean all
yum makecache
rpm --rebuilddb
litany, but that doesn't seem to change much. During my troubles last night, I noticed I still had an FC8 repo active in yum, and fixed that. Still didn't solve my problem. Then I found another hint, and ran
rpm -qa | grep fc8
rpm -qa | grep fc9
and got slammed with a lot of packages. My dependancy issues appear to be with the old FC8 packages that are still installed, but I can't seem to figure out a way to wipe those out without doing a complete reinstall.
There isn't much on this box at the moment, so a reinstall wouldn't kill me, I just like the challenge of fixing stuff that's broke, and I'm hitting a wall with this one.
any thoughts?
