The volume control applet included in Gnome is useful for quickly changing the master volume. To change it even faster hover over the speaker icon in the panel and move your mouse wheel. (Sorry to those who don't have wheels, they are really useful.)

It's on all Gnome desktops. It's the default on Fedora so I thought it would be useful.

yes that is also correct its on all gnome desktops by fedault.
