While we were recently looking to buy our new house, I wanted to buy a Ferrari 328 GTS but the wife wouldn't let me :(
About the only chance I'll ever have of owning a Ferrari. Oh well, least the house is nice and now the money's spent the temptation is gone ;)

* 1979 Trans Am (20th anniverary edition)
* 1967 Camaro (preferribly coupe)
* 1970 Hemi 'Cuda
* Ferrari Enzo (good luck chuck)
* Lamborghini Countach
* Dodge Viper
* Jaguar XJ220
* 1967 Mustang (the Shelby gt 500 version)
Yeah, thatll be a decent list for now. Price list on that much is already insane... This is what i get for playing with matchbox cars so much when i was little and building models

'Way too many to list conclusively. However, off the top of my head:
1972 Porsche 911 (E or S model)
1972 Datsun 510 2-door sedan (with many modifications, a la the Sharp Racing Enterprises under 2.5 liter Trans-Am cars)
ANY late '60s-early '70s Lotus 7 (for the "wind in my hair, bugs in my teeth" mood) - preferrably right-hand-drive
1966 Chevrolet Corvair 2-door coupe (with the Crown Engineering Corv8 conversion - puts a small-block Chevy V8 in the middle, ahead of the transaxle)
2005 Chrysler 300C SRT8 (425 hp Hemi - need I say more?)
And now, back to reality...

Well, Prometheus mentioned the Shelby, but I'd also like a Plymouth (Dodge?) Super-Bee - heavily modded, of course. But what I'm really lusting after (and it's my next car):
Mini-Cooper
I kid you not. If you can, take a test-drive in one of those things. They're FUN!

Ferrari Enzo, Nissan Skyline, Porsche 911 GT2, Hummer (to many deer where I live, must run them over), Lamborghini Murcelliago and Gallardo... I guess i have a lot to dream for...but hey any of these would do quite nicely....

Mini-Cooper
I kid you not. If you can, take a test-drive in one of those things. They're FUN! Quite right, crackers - they are neat. My problem is I still remember doing a "demon run" from somewhere(?) in Pennsylvania to Atlanta, back in the early '70s, in a Mini-Cooper S (Monte Carlo variant) and getting stopped by a cop at an ungodly early hour of the morning for doing 70 in a 35 zone. He let me go, saying, "I know how fast you were going. But standing here beside this little showbox, I just can't make myself believe it."
Somehow, after that, the new ones just aren't quite the same...

They aren't? You might want to take a second look - I was doing 90 on an access road before I knew it. While I can only imagine what a "Monte Carlo variant" would be, as the aforementioned test drive was in the standard version, not an "S." They may be new and spiffy and all, but there's more than enough stuff under the hood. They definteintely have some get-up-and-where-the-hell-did-he-go? (Add in the BMW engineering - it's beautiful, if unbelieivably small - under the hood/bonnet.)

that honda is a five cylinder race only model, isn't it? Wheelies in every gear should you choose...
Dream bikes:
chopped Yamaha XS11, early 80's or 79 model (79 had electric start and kick)
turbo'd yamaha XJ650 preferably 83 model with race (rice?) fairing
I'd be just as happy on a fully loaded Kawasaki Concourse
I love complicated riding but I'd like a bike I can ride on for more than fifty minutes without cramping - I rode a half hour on a friend's GSXR 600 (with funky pipes and racing chip) and even though it had power to spare that thing was MURDER on my wrists. When I ride, I ride all day. 180 miles or more is a good day.
Buggers like me that type constantly (I love konsole) can't handle supporting their entire body weight on their wrists - so I avoid rear controls, but I like anything with four or more cylinders.

The new BMW-engineered version is everything you say - it just can't bring back my wild, impetuous youth! :o Now, if someone made a car that could do that , I'd mortgage my...well, I'd do whatever to get one.
The "Monte Carlo" was just a slightly more tricked-out version of the 'S' - fog lamps, roll cage, BIG air filter for the intake, etc.

Some good choices there. I would only consider Japanese and German cars, the rest is crap (yes as the quote in the Taratino movie: "Ferrari is Italian crap").
My fave now is the Honda [Acura] HSC:

However, I will be going for something more attainable in real life, I like the Honda RSX and Toyota Celica T-Sport in that class.

My ex-brother-in-law had a burgundy Mustang GT convertible with a 5 speed and an 8 cyl engine. I don't know what year it was, but it was either late 80's or early 90's - before they got big and heavy.
He took me for a ride once in the mountains of NC around Highlands. Scared the crap out of me, but it was more fun than I've had in a long time. The car was fast and agile on mountain roads. He could do 50+ in a hairpin and not even squeal a tire.
Prior to that I had a Nissan 280Z - 1976 model with a 5 speed. Best stereo I have ever owned and the car would fly. I sold it to go to law school. (I don't even practice law anymore)

Sammy

age before beauty?
ok seriously, there are people who want cars for the raw driving experience alone, not the features or other various modern enhancements that have been invented over the years. Its a car. Just like there are people who prefer to create HTML in text editors rather than GUIs... because they are considerd better for what they are needed for. Coming from GUIs I dont have the skills to agree with that yet. But Im learning.
Since I did say before that I would prefer the car not yet built... if I had to chose one that already has been, I do have an affection for original Shelby Cobras. Just with I was rich enough to afford one, know how to maintain it, and a better driver ;o)

Because if i'm going to spend a ton of $$$ on a car, I rather it be something that is made of steel rather than plastic. Second, the crap comming out of detroit, japan, etc... is over priced recycled soda pop cans. really, I can build a car like the one I WILL have to be just as nice if not better than the crap of today. And to boot, I don't have to worry about all the emission laws here in the states.
Vintage vehicles get the respect of everyone whom lays theirs eyes on them. Plan and simple. Anyone who says that when they look at a piece of history, E.g. the superbirds of the late 60's and early 70's ( yes the car with the huge wing on the back ) that you don't feel aww struct by this vehicle. Thoise vehicles, BTW were banned by NASCAR because they were going to fast for those times. I'm tired of hearing of the rice rockets go screeming by my house All show and no go!

... coming in (wireless - TY Jim!) from a house where there are muncies on the garage floor and a Snap On toolbox way taller then me ... I still love my Jeep 5sp manual 6cyl with the top and the doors off.
Cant get much better in the midwest. 4wd for the winter and a cute and quick convertable for the summertime.
The Big Guy is building a 78 Chevy shortbed stepside to race on Woodward Ave. 350 with lots of gofast stuff. He just keeps smiling so that is just fine with me.
We also race cats in the summertime. There is nothing like being out on the wire and flying hulls around the big lakes - the wind is free and no chicken lines here. Gotta make time to freak out after all this geek stuff, even if its not behind an automobile engine.
;)
But, If I had to choose a fast car to drive, it would be a Z06.
