hi, I have laptop asus A7TC with integrated PCI TvTuner
05:02.0 Multimedia controller: Philips Semiconductors SAA7133/SAA7135 Video Broadcast Decoder (rev d1)
Subsystem: Avermedia Technologies Inc Device a836
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 64, IRQ 19
Memory at dfffd800 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=2K]
Capabilities: <access denied>
Kernel driver in use: saa7134
Kernel modules: saa7134
The tuner seems to be detected correctly, card is detected as Avermedia M115 card.
But: - no DVB device is set but it should - this is a hybrdi tuner
- when I try to use analog, in dmesg I find errors:
xc2028 2-0061: Error -22 while loading base firmware
xc2028 2-0061: Loading firmware for type=BASE MTS (5), id 0000000000000000.
xc2028 2-0061: i2c output error: rc = -5 (should be 64)
xc2028 2-0061: -5 returned from send
So it looks like some formware problem, but I found no solution. According to v4l pages, this should be tuner fully supportedby kernels.
Anyone has an idea ?
I ave Fedora Core 10 and 2.6.27 kernel.

I never could get VLC media player to work with any of my TV Tuner cards. But I they did work flawlessly with both the television viewers Xawtv and TVtime. They can both be found in the Fedora and/or RPMFusion repositories.

Can you post the output of dmesg?
For DVB-T cards, I find that the simplest app to get them working is kaffeine.

I forgot to say, I tried both, XawTv and TvTime ... KdeTV does not see dvb device ...

When I try to scan channels with TvTime this error still shows:

xc2028 2-0061: Loading firmware for type=BASE MTS (5), id 0000000000000000.

xc2028 2-0061: Error -22 while loading base firmware
Moreover, tuner is not registered as dvb (no /dev/dvb added) , only analog ... as seen in dmesg..
As I said, looks like some formware trouble ...

In order for my TV card to work, I had to create a file called "options", with that line inside:
options saa7134 card=3 gbuffers=4
The path is:
/etc/modprobe.d/options
Then, TVTime is the very best IMHO...
Reboot...
That's it...

it seems really hit and miss with tuner cards, also here in the states its useless to bother getting any of them to work with tvtime or xawtv since in a month there will be no more analog TV signals.
I have a hauppauge 950 usb tuner and it works with mythtv (digital) and tvtime(no sound and only analog), but not: klear, me-tv, xawtv, etc...
*sigh*
