Open Source in California Government???

Recently some here started this thread Is Fedora dying? (http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=20758) i was browsing the net and what do I found? a very insteresting article about my local goverment trying to save money to improve the budget.

This just proves that LINUX is not getting weaker no matter what M$ is trying to do but getting stronger and multiplying :D

It seems to be primarly for the cost savings, but the report (http://www.report.cpr.ca.gov/cprrpt/issrec/stops/it/so10.htm) also mentions other benefits, like not being tied to a closed source vendor.

Whatever the reason, it's nice to know some governments know the advantages of being open.
