my cam is detected on fedora core 2 and configure but when i say
xawtv it shows errors

This is xawtv-3.93, running on Linux/i686 (2.6.5-1.358)
can't open /dev/video0: No such device or address
v4l-conf had some trouble, trying to continue anyway
v4l2: open /dev/video0: No such device or address
v4l2: open /dev/video0: No such device or address
v4l: open /dev/video0: No such device or address
no video grabber device available
please help me out

usb correct? is is connected? please post your lsusb, open terminal and type: /sbin/lsusb

pwc-9.0.2.tar.gz i had downloaded this
in that site they are telling that go to /usr/local/linux
but there is no dir like this on my system

i cant do it for you.....please take your time to read it carefully they also provide you with a link for FAQ and a mailing list if you have any problems or questions...

you may also need to creat the directory yourself.....

btw have you tried using gnome meeting to initialize your cam?

on that site they told this rpm will support ,i had downloaded the kernel 2.6.6-1.435.2 .rpm if i installed this rpm it will make any problems ?
help me out i am newbie

please type: uname -r

is this the kernel you downloaded? are you using fc2?

i have downloaded -- kernel 2.6.6-1.435.2 .rpm ; if i installed this new rpm it will make any problems ?

I don't know if this is still an issue for anyone, but a google search when I was looking for more information to get a Logitech QuickCam 4000 Pro lead me here. :-)

Using Yum (or your favorite package too), you can install kernel 2.6.8-1.521. PWC support was right out of the gate even though there seems to be an issue with XawTV using "normal" sized image capture... It looks like I may be stuck at 120x120 or something close to that. :-(

I will post more info if/when I find it. I hope this helps someone.

P.S. The same thing happens in GnomeMeeting so I imagine it's a V4L limitation or something at a lower rung of the whole setup than than app.
