I'm having the same issue, almost.
I did some searching and found the rpm -rebuilddb fixed most of the dependency issues, but I'm still left with this:

I'm fairly new to all of this so searching is moderately difficult for me, as I have no idea what it is I'm searching for.

when i get a dependency error like that . The first thing i do is run

su -
yum clean all
yum makecache
rpm --rebuilddb

yum update ( program name)

99% of the time this fixes it .

It seems the only two files I cannot update are the ones that come from the rpmfusion-nonfree repo. Is this a problem on my end?

I'm getting the same error. Notice that i tried the the "clean all; yum makecache; rpm --rebuilddb" trick (to no avail).

I really think there's a bug in the repository that centers on the python(abi) = 2.5 requirement.

can you post the output of

yum repolist

that "rpmfusion-nonfree-rawhide" should be for the PRERELEASE ( i think) and not for fedora 10 -finale
"rpmfusion-free-release-stable "
i think you need to update those repos.

For BStarbuck, your kernel hasn't been updated to the latest fedora. Try pulling updates again and when you get the new kernel downloaded, it should clear up the kmod-nvidia dependency issue.

Thanks man. I resolved the problem shortly after I first posted, but didn't know how I did it. Now I know what to look for next time.

John VV,

Thanks for responding.

You're right, and choosing the correct repositories gets me this error:

root@zeus 19:28:26 /etc/yum.repos.d# yum repolist
Loaded plugins: refresh-packagekit
Error:
root@zeus 19:28:42 /etc/yum.repos.d# yum makecache
Loaded plugins: refresh-packagekit
Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: rpmfusion-free-updates. Please verify its path and try again

Isn't that helpful? It started happening right after I installed the rpmfusion rpms with this command:
rpm -Uvh http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-stable.noarch.rpm http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-stable.noarch.rpm
as recommended at http://rpmfusion.org/Configuration

Which is why I tried the wrong repository in the first place.

Here's my yum.repos.d:

I tried uncommenting the "baseurl" entries and got this:

That makes me think there's a bug in the .repo file.

BTW, this box is an upgrade from FC9 - FC10.

Any ideas?

Okay, I found the nub of my problem: my releasever is "10.90" but rpmfusion only has directories for 10, 9 and 8

Can anyone tell me how or where to change my releasever to something that rpmfusion supports?

I have just worked around this problem in the ugliest way I could think of: I manually hard coded "10" and "i386" where $releasever and $basearch used to be in all the rpmfusion*.repo files in /etc/yum.repos.d

Unfortunately, it worked. Sort of. Now, yum can read the repos. I still can't install kmod-nvidia (see below)

Someone stop me! Help!

Please ignore the "10.90"s in the repo names. They should be "10"s.

Hey Coble,
I just noticed you have rawhide enabled. You are using Fedora 10.9, etc.

JohnVV
13th December 2008, 07:01 AM
try removing " rpmfusion-nonfree-rawhide " "rpmfusion-free-rawhide"

yum erase rpmfusion-nonfree-rawhide rpmfusion-free-rawhide

and if it dose not take anything else with it then run

yum clean all
yum makecache
rpm --rebuilddb
yum update
------
then reboot
and run
yum install kmod-nvidia

and if it dose not take anything else with it then run

yum clean all
yum makecache

Once you removed that rawhide version, go back to:
http://rpmfusion.org/Configuration

Select the Updates if your 'yum repolist', doesn't show rpmfusion-free-update, etc.
