I saw a thread saying the newer non-stock versions of Rhythmbox comes with native support for the iPod. I have several questions and hope some people out there may have the answers.
First: How can I save my current Rhythmbox playlists, uninstall Rhythmbox, install the new version with iPod support, and then import my playlists?
Second: I am anxious about installing software that I didn't get through yum. I use the standard fedora.us and livna sources, and whenever I've tried adding other repositories (such as DAG), yum fails with unmet dependencies when I try to do
yum update
So this question is, if I use an rpm from, say freshrpms, is there a way to keep it automatically updated without reconfiguring my entire yum.conf file? Will there be any dependency issues?
And finally, I wanted to avoid the whole firewire issue. People seem to have to go through all sorts of contortions to get it working. So I spent $20 (US) for a usb iPod cable. Optimally, I'd like to be able to plug the iPod in through usb, have it automatically mounted, do my thing with Rhythmbox, and then just unplug the iPod when I'm done (sort of an "auto - umount" kind of thing). Is this possible? If so, is there a step-by-step answer for a relative newbie like myself?
Thank you in advance for any help anyone can give.
P.S. Thanks to Ug for the tip.
